Saturday 31 March

Oh, I do hope the weather improves when we get into April tomorrow. The forecast is looking hopeful that it will be less cold next week. Today I’ve felt it’s been a struggle to keep warm still. As I write it’s started snowing again, but there’s a good hearty dinner cooking.

The fish shop already had a queue shortly after opening this morning and the freshly smoked fish I bought for our lunch was delicious.

We haven’t done anything really much of note today. We’ve all enjoyed reading a lot. I’ve been doing back ground reading about the places we will move on to, ready to start passage planing.

We walked into the pretty town to stock up supplies and collect a hire car so that Steve can drive Chris to Hamburg airport on Monday and collect our new crew. It will be easier for everyone rather than making train journeys on this occasion.

The locals must be hardy. At least three boats came into the harbour from the sea. I cannot imagine how cold it must have been out there today.
