Friday - 8 June 2018
Tricia & I left home on Thursday evening to travel
down to Lymington, eventually all (well most) of our work commitments behind us
for a while.
During Friday, our crew for this leg began to arrive. The
first being Dave Carr who had flown down from Scotland. We busied ourselves
with various preparations, including some jobs that had long been put off. We
also spent time with Henry from the boatyard who has been overseeing the
electronics upgrade work on Equinox. We now have a new set on instruments to
learn about, but everything seems to be functioning as it should.
At lunchtime, James arrived, brought by his dad Tom who
had sailed from Germany with us earlier in the year. Next was Gerry, a vital
long term part our crew and the veteran of many previous trips with us. Finally
came Harry, another contact from previous crews and our first lifeboat crewman on board.
We added fuel and water, checked the weather forecast for
the umpteenth time, and concluded that Saturday was the day to go. We were all
set.
