We had a much needed lie-in, then walked into the centre
of Cascais in search of fish. It turned out the fish market does not sell
retail, but, having had a great walk around the town, we found a Jumbo
supermarket, with a superb fish counter. We chose some Trout and asked the lady
to not only clean it, but also fillet it. She asked her colleague. She was sure
she must have misunderstood, but he confirmed this was what we wanted. Fillets
are much easier to cook on the boat, but the fish sellers think we are crazy to
not want the fish whole. Maybe now we can buy Calor Gas easily, I should cook
it whole in the oven.
When we arrived back at the boat, we spied a lady
neighbour doing her washing, in a small twin tub type washing machine. We asked
the friendly Belgian couple about it and they insisted that we should borrow it
and try it, so we did two loads of the quick dry clothes. Having looked it up
online, I think there’s a good chance we will buy one: it is small enough to be
easily stored and suitable for small light loads. We will still have to use the
marina laundrettes for sheets, towels etc, but recon this machine will pay for
itself in 7 - 8 uses. The problem now will be to try to figure out where we
will be for long enough to get one delivered.
The washing took up quite a bit of the afternoon and,
otherwise, we happy to enjoy just sitting on deck in the sun, relaxing. We
invited the Belgian couple over for a happy hour drink and enjoyed comparing
sailing stuff with them, then we were able to have dinner on deck and savour
the warm evening.
